News from a 2009 4Culture Heritage Special Projects Recipient

Now on display at Key Bank Gallery in Auburn, through November 8th, is Suffer for Beauty – an exhibit showing women’s history through a review of underwear styles. The exhibit displays women’s undergarments and “beauty aides” by era: bustles and corsets of the late-19th century, looser styles of the progressive era and roaring ’20s, the economical ’30s and ’40s, through the ‘modern’ era of the 1950s.
