The Cherdonna & Lou Show

Recommended by Willow Fox, Public Art 4Culture

Friday, November 6, 2009, 9pm – Century Ballroom

“Local dancers Jody Kuehner and Ricki Mason have built a tender, high-concept, intentionally awkward cabaret about celebrities, celebrity impersonators, and a queer/punk/DIY aesthetic. ‘Cabaret people will think it’s too modern-dance and modern dancers will think it’s too cabaret-y,’ Kuehner says. Cherdonna and Lou do live in a narrow no-man’s-land between the two. (And no-woman’s, either: for Cherdonna and Lou, gender exists to be bent.) Kuehner does a weird downward-facing dog dance to interview clips from Madonna. Both perform as Sonny and Cher, except Sonny is a marionette totally controlled by Cher.
