The Gospel Musical Black Nativity Plays Its Final Season At Intiman

Intiman Theatre invites audiences to its annual production of Black Nativity, a holiday favorite that features 40 singers, dancers and musicians. This will be the gospel musical’s last season at Intiman, where it has been a tradition since 1998. Intiman and members of the creative team are currently exploring new options for the future, including a move to a larger venue in King County. Read more…

Regional historian Paul Dorpat, and photographer Jean Sherrard will collaborate on a new exhibit opening December 12th at the State History Museum in Tacoma. A state-wide version of Dorpat’s popular ‘Then and Now’ photo features in The Seattle Times, the exhibit will compare and contrasts historic photographs of state locations with contemporary photographs. Writer Eugenia Toledo will present a sneak peek of her poetry from her latest work in progress titled: “Trazas de mapa / Map Traces”. This new book is a women’s journey through the history of Toledo’s homeland and herself. Eugenia was awarded a special projects grant by 4Culture in 2009. “Trazas de mapa / Map Traces” will be published in 2010. Copyright Registration Demonstration

Most artists don’t understand that although they have copyright over a work of art they create, the ability to take legal recourse requires that the artist register the copyright. It is an important and critical detail most artists do not understand and fail to do. Join panelists: John E. Grant, Joleen Hughes, Nicholas Mitchell, and Todd Alberstone a panel of lawyers that will explain in plain English how artists can better protect their work. There will be a “live” demo of how to register a copyright online, so everyone is encouraged to bring a laptop and jpegs of a visual work of art to register their own copyright as they follow the copyright experts.
