Call for artists – Artist for Cheshiahud Lake Union Loop artwork
Deadline January 12, 2010, 11 pm

Seeking an artist for an urban trail that surrounds Lake Union in Seattle. The selected artist will create a new media project drawing on the history and/or context of the site. Possible media include podcast- or cell-phone based audio work, audio and/or video tours using mobile media and GPS, and walking tours or interactive events using the Web. Budget $18,000 all-inclusive.


Call for Art: UNCLAD 2010
Seeking submissions for annual art show

The ninth annual “UNCLAD – The Fine Art of the Figure” show dedicated to celebrating the nude figure in art runs March 13th – 28th, 2010 at Gallery by the Bay in Stanwood. All artists (accomplished and emerging) are encouraged to apply for the show. Open to all mediums. Ethnic Arts Connection
Seeking artists interested in presenting their work for a juried showcase
Deadline February 3, 2010

We are seeking performing and visual artists working in a variety of ethnic and cultural artistic genres for presentation at the Ethnic Arts Connection. A free one-day gathering, the Ethnic Arts Connection provides a place and a time for Northwest artists and presenters to come together, learn about each other and diversify the cultural experiences available for audiences. The biennial event introduces regional artists working in culturally specific traditions to presenters from around the region.


The Leonardo
RFQ – Lobby Art Piece
Deadline February 8, 2010

The Leonardo has issued a Request for Qualifications (RFQ) to select an artist for its Lobby Art Piece, with an artist’s fee of $74,000. The Lobby Art Piece is a prominent, permanent art installation that will sit in The Leonardo’s main lobby when the center opens April 15, 2011. Details and requirements for the Lobby Art Piece are included in the RFQ.

Call for artists – First Hill Streetcar Artwork

Seeking an artist to develop site-integrated artwork for the First Hill Streetcar line, which will connect the Chinatown/International District transit station to the future Capitol Hill light rail station via First Hill. The new line is part of the Seattle Streetcar Network. Budget $600,000 all inclusive. For more details click the links above.


Seattle Office of Arts and Cultural Affairs
Out-of-school arts training for middle and high school youth
Deadline February 23, 2010, 11 p.m. (PST)

Individual artists, arts and cultural organizations or youth-service agencies with nonprofit status or fiscal sponsorship are eligible to apply for Youth Arts – an annual funding program that supports arts training for Seattle’s middle and high school youth outside of school hours. Youth arts provides funding for projects in all artistic disciplines led by experienced teaching artists. Funding awards range from $1,500 to $10,000 for projects that will take place between September 2010 and September 2011.

Inviting artists to submit their proposal for a one day artist led art activity, as part of the WLAM’s Family Day at the Wing series. Each month, on the third Saturday, will have a different artist leading a different activity, which is age appropriate for 5 year olds (with adult supervision) and up and engages the visitor. Selected artists will receive a $250 honorarium and an $85 supply line for new supplies, additional supplies may already be available at the Museum.


Art Lending Library
Promotional opportunity for visual artists

The Art Lending Library is a system of lending and borrowing artwork to the public for free. It is a trust-based program where artists provide artwork to be checked out by any member of the public, and patrons allow artwork and artists into their homes; all in the spirit of sharing. Virginia A Groot Foundation
Grant opportunity for ceramic or sculpture artists
Deadline March 1, 2010

Each year the Virginia A. Groot Foundation offers three grants (up to $35,000, $10,000, $5,000) to artists who have exceptional talent and demonstrated ability in ceramic sculpture or sculpture. Artists may be at any stage of career development, from emerging through mature. Applicants must be 21 years or older at the time of the application deadline.
