Soos Creek Trail
meet at the trailhead parking lot at SE 192nd St & 124th Ave, Kent
RVSP requested

You are invited to join a playful, interactive excursion along the Soos Creek Trail – a scenic 6-mile walk through woods, wetlands and meadows.  Susan Robb, Paul Rucker, and Stokley Towles invite you to participate in getting to know this trail, part of your “big backyard.”  The artist-led walk will traverse 3 miles and last about 2 hours – although you’re welcome to start with the group and diverge paths as desired.

These three interdisciplinary artists have been commissioned by 4Culture and King County Parks to create a series of work in response to the King County Regional Trails System (RTS), one of the nation’s most extensive multi-use off-road networks.  With over 175-miles of trails for bicycling, hiking, walking, and horseback riding, the RTS extends from Bothell to Auburn and Seattle to the Cascades, providing opportunities for recreation, non-motorized mobility, and commuting throughout the County.  Susan, Paul, and Stokley’s Trails Project examines the use and meaning of the RTS – current and possible – and seeks to inspire you to venture out and explore your “big backyard” for yourself.

The artists are creating experiences on and about the RTS throughout Summer 2010.  Like the environment itself, changing seasonally and over time, their responses to each site or segment experienced will continue to evolve. Site-specific and temporary in nature, the artists invite you to explore and participate in their visual, audio, textual and walkable creations – on the trails and online.

A project website, with stories, video and audio created by the artists will be available on May 7. A schedule of events and opportunities to participate will be posted there.

UPDATE 5/11: The Trails Project website is live!!
