Poets & Writers is very pleased to announce the launch of a new Fellowship program designed to develop future leaders for the literary field. Each year, two individuals will have an opportunity to work with Poets & Writers, 20 hours per week for 10 months. One Fellow will work with the editorial department and one with the Readings/Workshops program—this year in our Los Angeles office.
Conductive Garboil Grant
Deadline: June 7, 2010
The Conductive Garboil Grant is a yearly, non-restricted award of $3,000 for Seattle Artists who have a connection to the Pioneer Square neighborhood. Artist awardees will have demonstrated a profound ability to challenge the limits of conductive creative discourse and its effects on our society, pushing the creative act beyond the accepted limits, definitions, or purposes of art while engaging audiences outside the aesthetic industrial complex.
Field Artist Residency
Deadline: June 7, 2010
The Field Artist Residency supports the creative endeavors of artists as they work toward an upcoming production. This summer is open to dance artists. For $325 participants receive: More than 65 hours of rehearsal space at The FAR Space; One individual consultation at The Field. Nine artists will be selected to develop their work with the support of a regular rehearsal schedule.
Creative Capital/Warhol Foundation Arts Writers Grant Program

The Creative Capital/Warhol Foundation Arts Writers Grant Program supports individual writers whose work addresses contemporary visual art through grants ranging from $3,000 to $50,000. Writers who meet the program’s eligibility requirements are invited to apply in the following categories: Articles; Blogs; Books; New and Alternative Media; Short-Form Writing.
RFP: Do It At Washington Hall

Historic Seattle and 4Culture are requesting proposals from individuals, groups, or businesses who would like to use Washington Hall. Here’s how you can get involved with Washington Hall: Hold a one-time event, workshop, or meeting at Washington Hall; Apply for a Short-Term Residency (rent office space, present a workshop series or season of programming, etc); or Apply to be an Anchor Tenant, joining a collective who will determine space use and management as well as the fundraising.
Collaboration!

Collaboration! is the pairing of choreographer with composer and their dancers and musicians culminating in a live music and dance performance. Almost every style of dance has been presented over the last decade. After 10 years in the San Francisco Bay Area, Collaboration! is touring; the first performance will be in Seattle at the Fremont Abbey Arts Center October 8 & 9, 2010. Choreographers/dancers & composers/musicians are invited to submit proposals for performances.
3331 Arts Chiyoda, Tokoyo: New Residency Program

3331 Arts Chiyoda is launching a new residency program open to artists, curators and creative practitioners internationally. With a full range of facilities including accommodation, studio and gallery, creative practitioners have the exceptional opportunity to extend their artistic engagement in the heart of Tokyo. Not only will artists be able to pursue their own individual research and practice, but they will be connected to the extensive network of Tokyo’s art scene through the hub that is 3331.
Artist Trust: Grants for Artists Projects

Artist Trust’s Grants for Artists Projects (GAP) provide support for artist-generated projects, which can include the development, completion or presentation of new work. GAP awards are open to artists of all disciplines living in Washington State and offer a maximum of $1,500 for projects. A panel comprised of artists and arts professionals select GAP recipients.
Poets & Writers: Readings and Workshops Fund
Deadline: July 1, 2010
Poets & Writers Readings/Workshops program is now accepting applications for literary events taking place in our new fiscal year, which begins July 1. The Readings/Workshops program provides small matching grants ($50-$500) to pay the honoraria of writers who give readings or teach writing workshops in Seattle. Organizations must apply on a writer’s behalf, but writers may initiate the application process.
Best Buy Community Grants Program: @15
Deadline: July 1, 2010
Through the @15 Community Grants Program, Best Buy teams across the United States will select nonprofit organizations that provide positive experiences designed to help teens excel in school, engage in their communities, and develop leadership skills. This year, Best Buy Children’s Foundation will give a total of $2 million through the program. Best Buy seeks applications from organizations that have current 501(c)(3) tax status and are serving young teens.
The Times Square Alliance: Projects in Public Spaces
Deadline: July 15, 2010
The Times Square Alliance seeks letters of interest from arts organizations and artists across disciplines to present contemporary art projects and art events in the public spaces in and around Times Square. Artists and arts organizations are encouraged to propose projects that address the unique nature and rich history of Times Square. Projects should be able to have an impact in a space defined by dynamic activity and continuous, competing visual stimuli.
Experimental Television Center Residency

Residency slots from September through January are now available. The Residency Program supports projects which approach media as a contemporary electronic and cinematic art form, providing artists with time and space for aesthetic exploration in the creation of new work. The self-directed work environment offers personalized instruction, use of a unique imaging system and access to the media library. Artists use the system themselves, and have unlimited access to the studio during their stay, with time and space for aesthetic exploration in the creation of new works.
Seattle Office of Arts & Cultural Affairs: CityArtist Projects
Deadline: July 20, 2010
The Seattle Office of Arts & Cultural Affairs is accepting applications for the 2011 CityArtist Projects program that supports Seattle-based individual artists working in the performing arts, including dance, music and theater. Artists working in traditional/ethnic and multidisciplinary projects that incorporate one of these primary performing arts disciplines may also apply. Funding awards range up to $10,000 to support projects in 2011.

En Foco’s New Works Photography Fellowship Awards is an annual program selecting three or more U.S. based photographers of Latino, African or Asian heritage, and Native Peoples of the Americas and Pacific, through a national call for entries.
(un)wrapped: Columbia City Gallery Call for Entries

The Columbia City Gallery is holding a Call for Entries for (un)wrapped, its 5th Annual Juried Exhibit. Visual artists working in all media are encouraged to submit artwork which reflects the theme (un)wrapped. Cash prizes will be awarded to the top 3 entries. The exhibit will run September 22 – November 14, 2010.
Foundation Orchestra Association: Composition Competition

The Foundation Orchestra Association (FOA) is proud to announce the Annual FOA Composition Competition, which was established in 2002. The purpose of the Annual FOA Composition Competition is to encourage the creation and performance of new works for standard chamber and full-size orchestra of music from cultures around the world.
