Photographic Center Northwest: Present Tense
Deadline (Extended): June 25, 2010

PCNW’s 15th Annual Photographic Competition Exhibition, Present Tense, will be chosen by Denise Wolff of Aperture. This annual juried exhibition draws entries from across the country and around the world, and remains among the most popular shows in PCNW’s annual schedule. Selected entries will be exhibited at PCNW in Seattle from August 5th – September 17th, 2010. The juror is looking for work that represents a larger, cohesive body of work and will be selecting a short series from each photographer chosen.


Creative Capital: Professional Development Workshop Grants
Deadline: June 30, 2010

Creative Capital will be offering new Workshop Subsidy Grants through its Professional Development Program, which helps artists to manage the business side of their art with greater efficiency and results. Organizations can apply for grants to offer these workshops to artists for a significantly reduced fee. Subsidies ranging from $3,000 to $10,000 are available for a limited number of workshops in planning, internet, and verbal communications, to be held in 2011 and 2012. The deadline for applicants wishing to host a workshop held in 2011, which must be submitted online, is 5:30pm eastern time on June 30, 2010. For applicants interested in hosting a 2012 workshop, the deadline will be announced in the spring of 2011.


2010 Pearl Poetry Prize
Deadline: June 30, 2010

Pearl Poetry offer publication and a $1,000 cash prize to a selected poet. The winner also receives 25 copies and a foreword by the finalist judge. Open to all poets, with or without previous book publication. Students and friends of the judge are not eligible for this year’s competition. This year’s judge is Christopher Buckley. Entry Fee.


City of Burien: 2011 Arts and Culture Funding

The City of Burien is holding an application cycle for its year 2011 Arts & Culture grant funding. Total funding available is estimated at $20,000. Arts & Culture grant funding is available to groups or organizations that provide arts and cultural enrichment to Burien and its residents.


Northwest Film Forum: Local Sightings
Deadline: July 1, 2010

Local Sightings is Northwest Film Forum’s premier showcase of Northwest filmmaking. The festival, which happens at Film Forum theaters in Seattle, features great prizes, filmmaker parties, archival Northwest films and an impressive national film industry jury looking for strong Northwest work. The annual festival includes both feature film presentations as well as short film programs and special events with live film performances, installation art, audience participation and parties.


Gallery 40: Call for Artists
Deadline: July 1, 2010

Gallery 40 seeks visual artists. Selected artists will be given a one-night show in Pioneer Square during the first Thursday art walk in September. They will also have their work featured on the Gallery 40 website. In lieu of a gallery commission, the selected artist will be required to donate 25% of any sales made during their opening to a Seattle art non-profit of their choice. Upon selection the artist chosen for the September Exhibit will be assisted in submitting applications to help gain funding for their show from local grant programs. The artist does not have to receive funding, but the act of applying furthers the working knowledge of any artist seeking support for their efforts. Applicants must be a Seattle Resident and have not a solo exhibition.


Duvall Art Walk

The Duvall Art Walk committee is currently seeking artists submissions for our annual event. This year’s event will take place over two evenings; Saturday, July 31st from 5-9pm and Saturday, August 28th from 5-9pm. The 2nd Annual Duvall Art Walk follows an extremely successful event in 2009. Businesses, and other venues along the Historic Downtown Duvall Main Street, will host juried fine arts and live music, showcasing local and regional talent. The Museum & Arts Center: Juried Glass Exhibition

Entries are now being accepted for “Transcendence – The Magic of Glass”, a juried contempoarary glass exhibition in Sequim, WA, September 1-25, 2010. This show is part of the Glass Art Festival and hosted by the MAC, Museum & Arts Center in the Sequim-Dungeness Valley. This juried exhibition is for artists working in any area of glass art including, but not limited to, blown, cast, fused, kiln-formed, torchworked, pate de verre, stained, or sand-carved glass. Mixed media entries are welcome. Entry fee.


Office of Arts and Cultural Affairs: Funding for Performing Artists

Seattle-based individual artists working in the performing arts may apply for funding of up to $10,000 to support projects in 2011. CityArtist Projects is an annual funding program that provides support to individual Seattle artists to conceive, develop and present new, in-progress or remounted works taken to the next stage. Projects must include a public presentation in the city. Seattle-based individual artists proposing projects in dance, music and theater. Artists working in traditional/ethnic and multidisciplinary projects that incorporate one of these primary performing arts disciplines may also apply. CityArtists funds different disciplines in alternating years.


Phinney Center Art Gallery: Northwest Arts Competition

The Phinney Center Art Gallery is currently seeking submissions for our 2010 Northwest Fine Arts Competition. There will be a juror’s award of $300.00 for the winning entry. The selected art will be displayed in the Phinney Center Art Gallery from October 6 – October 29 2010. We are seeking individual artists working in all 2-D and 3-D media for our Northwest Fine Arts Competition. Works must have been completed in the last two years and have not been selected for a previous Phinney Center Gallery Show.

The Columbia City Gallery is holding a Call for Entries for (un)wrapped, its 5th Annual Juried Exhibit. Artists in all media are encouraged to submit artwork which reflects the theme (un)wrapped. Jurors for the exhibit are: Sam Davidson (Davidson Galleries), Marita Dingus (mixed media artist), and Jen Graves (Stranger Art Critic and Arts Editor). $1000 in cash prizes will be awarded to the top 3 entries. Seattle Art Museum: Betty Bowen Award

Visual artists working in Washington, Oregon or Idaho are invited to apply for the Seattle Art Museum’s annual Betty Bowen Award. For 32 years, the Betty Bowen award has provided artists with an opportunity to introduce their work to SAM’s curators of modern and contemporary art and the Betty Bowen Committee members, and to have their work critiqued by their peers. Auburn’s ArtRageous: Travelling Art Encampment and Plein Air in the Park

The Travelling Arts Encampment is an interactive temporary art installation, inviting artists and the festival attendees to create tents and shelters throughout Les Gove park. Using non-traditional materials, the installation will imagine and inspire a new type of shelter.
