I recently stopped by the current gallery exhibit at Kirkland Arts Center. The KAC Links Invitational, curated by Cable Griffith, brings together a group of 12 artists to transform the KAC Gallery into a playable, nine-hole miniature golf course. Are the artists having a blast with this theme? Oh, yes.

Holes range from the conceptual (Noah Grusgott’s heady, yearning view-from-the-outside of an exclusive golf club yields the sparest playing opportunity) to the baroque (imagine the hours of cutting and gluing that the team of Hirschkoff & Wood spent fabricating their countertop putting green. Sink that putt!). Every corner of the gallery engages, including the stairs, where an installation by the team of SuttonBeresCuller leads to the upper gallery.

Visitors are encouraged to play the entire course and chalk their score onto the Leader Board. While themes of sport, competition and art vs. entertainment may be contemplated, I suspect the overwhelming take-away will be F-U-N. This show is a destination as well as an experience. Take your pals and make the trip to the east side. The game is on through July 29. Links Masters’ Closing Ceremonies: Saturday, July 24 6-9 p.m.

Participating artists: Tim Cross & Whiting Tennis, Noah Grussgott, Jason Hirata, Ben Hirschkoff & Jason Wood, Trevor Johnson & Ryan Molenkamp, Kristen Ramirez, Elise Richman, SuttonBeresCuller, W. Scott Trimble
