The Shoreline Landmarks Commission will hold a public hearing on Thursday, October 14th, at 7pm on proposed design changes to the landmarked Ronald Elementary School in Shoreline. Bassetti Architects, lead design team for the the Shoreline School district on this project, has submitted a Certificate of Appropriateness (COA) application to construct a new Shorewood High School building attached to the historic landmark.
The design submitted to the landmarks commission for review calls for the removal of the entire rear wall of the Ronald School and a renovation of its interior. The proposed project will also impact features of significance on the other three sides of the landmark, as well as the site. The Shoreline Historical Museum, which has occupied the old school for 35 years, will permanently relocate their staff and entire collection at the end of this year. Comments, questions, and requests for copies of the COA can be made through the King County Historic Preservation Program, or contact Todd Scott at (206) 296-8636 or todd...@kingcounty.gov.
The public hearing will be held at the Richmond Masonic Temple at 753 N. 185th Street.
