News from 4Culture Heritage Cultural Education recipient

Jack Straw, Stories of Youth projectOn Thursday April 28th, Joan Rabinowitz of Jack Straw Productions and I visited Foster High School in Tukwila for a presentation by students enrolled in the English Language Learners (ELL) program. The event was arranged to showcase an anthology of poetry by the students describing their immigrant experiences.  The students read aloud the poems they had created and recorded at Jack Straw as part of The Stories of Arrival: Youth Voices project, funded in part through a Heritage Cultural Education award. I was so impressed and moved by the students’ work, that I thought I would share one of the recordings with you.
