News from a Heritage Sustained Support recipient

From a press release issued by the Kent Historical Museum:

(KENT, WA—August 31, 2011) The Kent Historical Museum’s Little Explorers program, designed to introduce preschoolers and Kindergarteners to Social Studies and History for the first time, will begin a new quarter on Wednesday, September 14. The program has two available times, 10:30 a.m. or 2:30 p.m., on the second Wednesday of each month for three months, with the classes designed to be attended in sequence. Pre-registration is required, and admission is by donation.

Parents of past Little Explorers have commented on the program, saying:

•    “Love, love, love this program! Very worthwhile!”

•    “Extremely good program—well planned—totally engaging for the children.”

•    “It is very important for the younger generation to learn about history… This class fulfills a missing link that is not offered anywhere else!”

In a melding of U.S. and U.K. curriculum, children in Little Explorers learn social studies-themed lessons through various mediums, such as stories, puppetry, hands-on exploration, crafts and dramatic play. Read the full press release.

Little Explorers is sponsored by the Greater Kent Historical Society and Museum and funded in part by 4Culture’s Heritage Sustained Support program. For more information or registration, contact the museum at 253-854-4330 or visit online at kenthistoricalmuseum.org.
