In six short months in 1962, ten million people passed through the gates of the Century 21 World’s Fair in Seattle and the city and region would never be the same. Book-It Repertory Theatre brings the story to life in a Special Editions performance of The Future Remembered, adapted by Annie Lareau from the book by Paula Becker and Alan Stein.
Witness the excitement of a city about to come into its own in this 40-minute performance that highlights a post-WWII, pre-coffee and computer Seattle. You’ll meet the civic leaders whose advocacy and forward thinking paved the way for us to become the culturally rich and vibrant community we now are, with one of the most verdant civic centers in the country.
With develop funding from 4Culture Heritage and Arts, The Future Remembered, as historical performance, is now available for autumn booking dates at local venues. Heritage organizations and historic sites are especially encouraged to include this latest non-fiction production from Book-It Theatre as part of their public programming, and to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Fair.
Like its predecessors, Two Wheels North and Women’s Votes, Women’s Voices, The Future Remembered promises to bring dramatic enlivenment to a story of local and national significance. If you are interested in learning more about how you can make The Future Remembered part of your King County-based cultural organization’s 2011-2012 program lineup, contact Eric Taylor at 4Culture.
