Join us Tuesday, December 15th for a presentation by photographer, Michael Nye. Michael will be talking about the convergence of his art and social practice via his latest project, About Hunger. A documentary of voices, stories and portraits, About Hunger explores the lives of those who have experienced hunger during their lifetime. Michael’s multimedia presentation will be followed with an informal Q&A session.

Michael Nye is a San-Antonio based photographer known for multimedia exhibits that use personal narrative to illuminate complex social issues and foster understanding. His photography and audio exhibitions, Children of Children (stories of teenage pregnancy) and Fine Line; Mental Health/Mental Illness have traveled to over 120 cities in the United States and continue to tour. Recipient of a Mid-America National Endowment for the Arts grant in photography, and a Kronkosky Foundation grant, Michael has participated in two Arts America tours in the Middle East and Asia, and exhibited and lectured widely in museums and universities.

Michael’s practice and interests bring him to Seattle to participate in an artist selection panel for the Harborview Nursing Commemorative, a 4Culture public art project in partnership with Harborview Medical Center and the University of Washington School of Nursing. For each public art project commissioned by 4Culture, a unique panel of art and design professionals and community representatives is assembled to review all applications and select finalists. Michael joins two art and design professionals with experience in the arts and medical facilities, and representatives from Harborview and the UW School of Nursing for this project’s artist selection process.

We feel fortunate to have the opportunity to sponsor this evening with Michael Nye and hope that you will join us:
